According to the official media, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud launched the SNTV Daljir channel, which "would focus on anti-Khawarij (al-Shabab) operations."

Days before, the authorities claimed to have deactivated more than 500 accounts on social media that were promoting al-Shabab ideas.

Al-Shabab has a sophisticated media infrastructure that consists of dozens of social media profiles as well as a number of linked media sites.
