Tetteh Quarshie Memorial hospital of Akuapem Mampong in the Eastern Region has allegedly detained a 22-year-old lady for her inability to pay the One Thousand Five hundred (1,500)Ghana Cedis Surgery bill.

The lady in the center of the story is said to have suffered from breast cancer and had successfully gone through an operation of the affected breast but could not raise the amount charged for the surgery which is 15 million old cedis, and was detained over one week after discharge.

Speaking to Soiree News 24 the family member of the detainee said, Grace Agyeiwaa has suffered from the breast problem for over a year and reported to the hospital several times but in a quest to find a lasting solution to the breast problem, they were informed by a surgeon in the above hospital to raise an amount of GHS 1,500.00 been the cost of the surgery to remove the affected breast.

Another family member disclosed that Grace Agyeiwaa was admitted to (TQM) hospital precisely three weeks ago after she was diagnosed of Breast Cancer.

The family initially raised about one thousand Ghana cedis before the admission but the one thousand five hundred Ghana cedis was purposely for the surgery which they haven't been able to raise after 10 days discharged.

According to her mum, the patient first sought help from The church of Pentecost which she is a member but the church could not raise the amount due, so they have also sort help from the other local churches of Tutu Akuapem and hope their plea will be held to settle the outstanding debt in order for her to be released from hospital detention, she emphasized.
