The Minister Of Transportation Will Meet With Commercial Transportation Operators to Discuss Fare Increases.
Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah,

On Monday, February 7, 2022, the Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, will meet with commercial transportation operators to discuss their proposed fare increase.
On Sunday, the Coalition of Transport Operators announced a 30 percent rise in transportation rates.

The decision was made, among other things, because of the constant rise in gasoline prices, replacement parts, and petroleum product taxes, according to the commercial drivers.

David Agbado, a spokesman for the Concerned Drivers Association, confirmed the meeting with the Transport Minister in an interview.

He stated that the anticipated 30 percent increase will not be rescinded unless the government accepts their requests.

Mr. Agbado stated that their request is for the government to eliminate various levies on petroleum goods, resulting in lower gasoline costs at the pump.

Commuters would be the worst hurt by the current increase, he added, but their hands are tied.
