An NGO called "WO YE BRA," translated as Menstrual Cycle of Women, in the Akan dialect of Ghana, has stated its commitment to using the social media platforms effectively to boast 200 women in the sewing of refusable sanitary pad business.

The Founder of WO YE BRA in Ghana and INFINITY GLOBAL EMPOWERMENT in Africa, a retired Coca-Cola Marketing Executive, Dr Adrienne Booth Johnson, addressing participates at  "WO YE BRA's 4th Quarter Business review meeting with their trainees to discuss how to add values and more innovation to their skills in businesses said, his outfit has created employment programmes that lift women out of poverty and create sustainability for Africa women.

Dr Adrienne recounted how, she and her husband gave out 1000, pieces of Sanitary pads in the country, but realized, how insufficient it was so as it was not long-lasting.  

She then thought of 'teaching women how to fish rather than giving them fish' that was how she conceived the idea of sewing reusable sanitary pads.

The WO YE BRA, programme which was launched in 2017, started with 21 women with the aim to keep girls in schools who would otherwise stay home because of lack of access to sanitary supplies during their period.

For her part, the Vice President of Operations for WO YE BRA in Ghana, Mrs Ellen Baah, explained that they have trained a total of 200 women especially, on how to sew Reusable Sanitary Pads, in order to run their own businesses.

"Doing so by providing the resources and training for impoverished women, which includes providing free sewing machine, Fabrics, Suppliers, Patterns and Micro- Funding, as well as Marketing, Sale training and Finance education.

Project Administrator of the Organisation, Ms Jennifer Addochoe Maffatt noted that the 4th Quarter Business Review was focused on the 200 women trained to know how far they have gone with their businesses and how they can learn branding, marketing skills, sales and how to use social media to boost their businesses interns of income by maintaining relationships with their customers.

The programme brought together partners like INTERNATIONAL WOMEN OF COLAR and BREAST CANCER AWARENESS TEAM to offer words of advice and encouragement as well as service of a HEALTH SCREENING MEDICAL TEAM from (MEDNOVA).

Finally, some beneficiaries of the training shared their experiences on how they have survived with the WO YE BRA programme under the sewing of Reusable Sanitary pads for income.
