95% Of Private Schools Haven't Received Government Stimulus Package - Director

The Director of Eagles College Kumasi, Mr Clement Adjei Sarfo has said about 95 per cent of Private Schools have not received Government’s National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) Covid-19 Stimulus Package.

"About 95 of we the private schools haven't received government's Stimulus Package. Those who received it did not even get ten thousand Ghana Cedis".

The government reopened schools in the middle of January 2021 after a shut down since March 2020 due to the outbreak of pandemic coronavirus. 

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana, a programme was instituted by the government via National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) to provide COVID-19 financial support loans to businesses severely hit by COVID-19.

The stimulus packages were to help alleviate the plight of affected organizations.

Although some schools received their packages, however, the Eagles College Director in an exclusive interview with Soireenews.com on Monday, 18 January 2021 declared that 95% of Private Schools haven't received the Government's Stimulus Package. And those who received it had meagre amounts.

He bemoaned that Covid-19 pandemic has adversely affected private educational institutions on all fronts therefore, Government should financially support the schools amidst school reopening in pandemic Covid-19 era in order to raise their standards.
