Berekum Traditional Council Set Up 10 Member Security Task Force to Fight Illicit Activities in Berekum.

The tree Transport unions including PROTOA, GPRTU, Berekum Taxi Union and the Berekum Municipal Assembly as well as the Traditional Council task force will ensure sanity is prevail in the principal streets to the Berekum main station.

The Berekum Traditional Council in the Bono Region, headed by the Omahene of Berekum, Dasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II has set up a 10-member security task force to help fight illicit activities in the Berekum Central Business District. 

The task force is made up of some members from the Berekum Municipal Assembly, Berekum Transport Union,s and the Berekum Traditional Council.

The three Transport unions including PROTOA, GPRTU, Berekum Taxi Union, and the Berekum Municipal Assembly as well as the Traditional Council task force will ensure sanity is prevailing in the principal streets to the Berekum main station. 

They have been tasked to work to control the free flow of movement in the town, especially in the connection with transport services and to combat firms of crimes in the Municipality and deal with recalcitrant drivers and other people who park wrongly along the stretch of Berekum central business area.

The task force has been assigned again to work and prevent shop operators and storekeepers from trading along the streets especially to avoid the traders from createnuisancese on the streets instead of keeping their goods in their shops.

According to the Berekum Traditional Council, offenders found culpable will be fined a specific amount with the approval of the Berekum Municipal Assembly.

The expected fine if approved will be that, Trotro, Taxi, and Pragyia drivers will be fined an amount of Ghc300.00, Ghc200.00, and Ghc100.00 respectively for being caught an offense against the task force measures.

The decision of the task force formation was heeded by the MCE of Berekum East Municipal, Hon. Kofi Adjei, the District Police Commander, ASP Andrews Okonongye, the Executives of the three transport unions in Berekum, and the Berekum Traditional Councilwhoseh approval to this effect will start after the meeting of the Municipal Assembly.
