The exercise was done by the Central Regional Police Command to create awareness of the existence of coronavirus and the need for residents to mask up all time.

The Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mrs Habiba Twumasi and the Divisional Police Commander of Mfantseman, ACP Owoahene Adjei Acheampong, with the police team have embarked on Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) exercise on Friday, February 12, 2021, in the Central Region.

The security team gave out about 30, 000 nose masks and hand sanitisers to market women, drivers and Pedestrians of Mfantseman Municipal in the fight against Covid-19.

According to the Central Regional Police commander, the purpose for the exercise was to ensure that the citizens of Mfantseman and its enclave are educated and reminded that Covid -19 is real hence the need to protect friends and families through wearing nose masks and the use of hand sanitisers in their daily activities.

She advised that the mandatory wearing of nose maks is not to only protect the lives of users but their neighbours who are sometimes ignorant of the law, therefore, people should not hesitate to avoid the various health protocols to help curb the virus from spreading.

She continued that the exercise is a form of sensitisation and it does not mean the law will not take it course if offenders are caught not abiding by the protocols of the pandemic.

"Though we are sharing nose masks and sanitisers, the exercise of arresting those who are not wearing them will take place," he said.
