EPL: Two goals from Burnley break Old Trafford 'curse' as Red Devils struggle continues; Manchester United 0 - 2 Burnley
Burnley's players are jubilant after sealing a famous win - they had failed to protect a 2-0 lead at Old Trafford last season, eventually drawing 2-2

Burnley gave Manchester United a shock at Old Trafford cruising past the host by 2-0.

Goals from Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez handed the Clarets the shock. It was also Burnley’s first win at Old Trafford in over 50 years.

Victor Lindelof was replaced by Phil Jones for his second Premier League start of the season after suffering from illness. In his only other start this season he was replaced at half time in the draw with Sheffield United. It’s one of two changes for United as Juan Mata replaced Luke Shaw with Brandan Williams dropping back to left back.

Sean Dyche remained without Ashley Barnes and made one change from the 2-1 win over Leicester with Matt Lowton replacing Phil Bardsley. Johann Berg Gudmundsson was close to a return after a hamstring injury but wasn’t risked by Dyche.

United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka created early chances for Anthony Martial and Juan Mata, but both came to nothing.

Burnley took the lead six minutes before the break when Wood met Ben Mee's flick-on and finished first-time.

The free kick was launched long from 50 yards and Mee once again beat Matic in the air. They had plenty of men forward and Wood was the quickest to react to the second ball about 12 yards out. He was alive to the opportunity and banged a brilliant finish past De Gea.

The Clarets intensified their play as Burnley appealed for a penalty in the early stage of the second half. Fred stacked the ball inside the area and it rolled up his body to his arm. Burnley requested for a spot kick but it was turned down by referee Jonathan Moss.

The Clarets' lead was doubled 11 minutes after half-time when Rodriguez blasted a shot from the corner of the area past David De Gea at his near post.

It didn’t look much on for Rodriguez as he picked the ball up down the left but he took a few forward touches before unleashing a rocket that caught De Gea out at his near post. The ball crashed off the underside of the bar and into the net.

Mata sent a free-kick over the bar and Mason Greenwood flashed a shot wide, but United could not find a breakthrough.

United are fifth on 34 points, level with Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Burnley's first win at Old Trafford since 1962 lifts them to 13th, joining four other clubs on 30 points.
