More than 2,000 pupils in Oseneso D/A Basic School in the Wassa East District of Western Region have been hit with the furniture deficit which situation has compelled them to storm the principal streets of Oseneso to embark on a wild demonstration.
The demonstrators who were all students without the protection and guidance of their teachers began the demonstration around 8:30 am on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, from the school's premises through the main street of the Oseneso community and ended it at the chief's palace.
They did this in protest of the lack of furniture in the school for quite some time now.
So they embarked on an unprotected demonstration to inform the opinion leaders, particularly the chief about the furniture deficit in the school.
The chief of Oseneso Nana Yaw Gyesi who was not happy about the student's behavior explained that he was not in town when he had a phone call from his linguist that the students in their numbers have come to the palace to carry all the chairs at the palace to the school.
"So he came and met the agitated students at palace chanting war songs," the chief narrated.
Nana Yaw Gyesi expressed unreserved disappointment in the entire staff of the Oseneso D/A Basic School for allowing the students to embark on such devastating demonstration and risking the children's lives as well at the time that their parents knew their wards were in school learning.
Okyiame Yaw Donkor whose shirt was torn apart by the angry students during the demonstration also recounted his ordeal to journalists.
