Gun,Ammunitions Have Been Found  On Asafoatse Who  Was Reported Dead In  Krokobite Bloody Clash
It has emerged that guns and ammunition numbering about twenty (20) were found on the Asafoatse Krottey who was reported to have been killed following a gun battle at Krokobite in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region on Thursday, June 9, 2022.

According to the intelligence gathered from the police source, the police had retrieved the weapons and gun from Asafoatse Krottey when they took the body to the morgue.

The soireenews.com gathered that Asafoatse Krottey who is a resident of Chorkor near Korle-Bu in Accra was in Ashalaja in Ga South municipality monitoring grading pieces of land when Stanley Armah Tagoe popularly known as Amah Fit called him vise telephone to come to Krokobite township to join a team of thugs to protect security to the elders of the Nii Ardey Nkpa clan led by Nii Arde Nkpa VI when they stormed Krokobite to perform rituals to lift the ban on drumming and noisemaking.
It will be recalled that one person is confirmed dead, while two others, including a fifteen-year-old boy, are receiving treatment at the hospital following a gun battle at Krokrobite.

However, the elders of the Nii Ofei family and the Nii Ardey Nkpa clan were reported to have been declared innocent of the incident.

But the police of the Weija Division Police Command has confirmed that they are commissioning investigations into the matter to unravel the facts of the case.

The youths in Krokobite led by Secretary to the Krokobite Divisional Stool under the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council in Accra, Mr. Ahene Emmanuel stated that the Weija divisional police commander was to blame for the Thursday gun battle, saying that the culprits who shot the gun were hired by elders of Nii Ardey Npka Clan of Plerno.
He explained that the police commander failed to act professionally by deploying his officers to Krokobite to prevent the Nii Arde Nkpa family of Plerno led by Nii Arde Nkpa VI from storming Kokrobite on Thursday, June 9, 2022, to perform the traditional rituals to lift the ban on drumming and noisemaking.
Addressing a press conference in Kokrobite on Sunday, June 12, 2022, Mr. Ahene called on the Police Management Board (POMAB) to impress upon the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to transfer the Weija divisional police commander who he accused of meddling chieftaincy and land disputes in Kokrobite and its adjoining communities.
He warned that if Chief Superintendent Kumashie was not transferred from the Weija Divisional Police Command, the violent clashes in Kokrobite would continue “because the senior police officer was in league with elders of Plerno family.
He stated that the gazetted Chief of Kokrobite fishing town, Nii Ofei III, and his boys had no hand in the bloody gun battle which occurred in Kokrobite on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
He said at the time of the disturbances, Nii Ofei III had been invited to the Kokrobite police station to answer questions in matters related to him and his elders’ preparation to perform the necessary rituals that fateful day to lift the ban on drumming and noise-making in the Ga State.
"I want to state on record and also swear by our ancestors and God Almighty that Nii Ofei III and l, Emmanuel Aherne, were with the police at Kokrobite Police Station before we heard that there were gunshots for which we were told one person had been confirmed dead, while two others, including a fifteen-year-old boy, had sustained gunshot wounds who were said to have been rushed to hospital for medical treatment.”
"So how come that the media has reported that Nii Ofei III ordered his boys to shoot and kill people?" Mr. Ahene quizzed and called on media houses running with such falsehoods to immediately render an unqualified apology to Nii Ofei III.
Mr. Ahene was responding to the New Crusading Guide newspaper report on Friday, June 10, 2022, edition with the screaming headline: "Ga Battle @ Kokrobite...As Nii Ofei III Boys On Shooting Spree, Kill Asafoatse and others.”
He stated emphatically that there were factual inaccuracies coupled with propaganda and baseless allegations in the said report of the newspaper.
He, therefore, cautioned the newspaper to stop its continuous practice of publishing one-sided stories all the time, adding that there were misunderstandings between members of the Nii Ofei family and the Nii Arde Nkpa family of Plerno, saying that their reports always created confusion and tension in the area.
Mr. Ahene called on the general public, particularly citizens of Kokrobite both home and abroad to disregard the media reports linking Nii Ofei III to the recent gun shooting.
According to him, the records at the Kokrobite police station show clearly that Nii Ofei III together with the Chief of Plernor, Nii Arde Nkpa VI, who has been parading himself as the Chief of Kokrobite was in police custody before the gunfight erupted at Kokrobite.
He explained that since the installation of Nii Ofei III as the legally and traditionally installed Chief of Kokrobite in the year 2010, records available indicated that Nii Ofei III has been performing these necessary traditional rituals in Kokrobite.
"So how come that elders of Nii Arde Nkpa Clan of Plerno would come to Kokrobite that very day to carry out such traditional rituals since we the traditional authorities of Kokrobite headed by Nii Ofei III had officially written a letter to the Police Administration informing them of our programs towards this year's annual celebration of Homowo which we have performing since 2010,? he asked.
Additionally, he pointed out that before the baning of the drumming and noisemaking in Accra, the police had written to the traditional authorities in Krokobite heard by Nii Ofei III to furnish them with their programs activities marking this year's annual' Homowo' festival.

"Under the police letter to the Krokobite Divisional Police and submitted to the office of the Krokrobite Divisional Chief requesting the traditional authorities to furnish the police with the itineraries from this time December 2022, I wrote a letter and was signed by the Krokobite Divisional Stool and furnished the commander with his request.
"The letter details that from May 9, 2022, to June 9, 2022, there will an observance of a mouth silence. The letter sought the assistance of the police in the maintenance of peace within the area.
"The activities include cleansing of the millet farm, planting of millet, the Divisional Chief of Krokobite shall play the traditional drum," Mr. Emmanuel narrated.
He added that the letter informed the Chief Superintendent Mr. Freeman Kumashie that we will be using musketeers but he begged us not to use it.
"The Chief Superintendent Freeman Kumashie said we can go there to pour the libation upon inviting us to the Weija Divisional Police Command at the Weija tollbooth and pleaded with us not to use the musketeers," Mr. Emmanuel explained.
"So all of sudden, on Thursday, June 9, 2022, when it was time for us to go there and we learned that Nii Ardey Nkpa VII came to Krokobite to perform the rites.
"And upon hearing that information and for the peace to prevail in the town, the chief of Krokobite, Nii Ofei III went to inform the police that it was the time for him to go and perform the rituals.
"And from there that Nii Ofei III was kept in the police cell till this morning Friday, June 10 2022 that we went to the court. So Nii Ofei III was not at the scene before the incident happened," Mr. Emmanuel further clarified.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Nii Arde Nkpa family, Daniel Nii Arde Nkpa Tagoe has spoken about the ownership claim of Krokobite land saying that they have the judgment over the land.

Speaking in  an interview with journalists on Friday, June 10, 2022, Mr. Tagoe reiterated  that Nii Offei III who parades himself as chief of Kokrobite is not recognized and has not been traditionally and customarily installed as the chief of Kokrobite, although Nii Ofei III still holds himself as chief of Kokrobite
But the Nii Ofei III has shot down the claim of Mr. Tagoe, saying that the members of the Nii Ardey Nkpa Tagoe family don't have the legitimate rights to perform traditional rituals or rites in Krokobite so far Ga traditions and customs because they are coming from Plerno and not Krokobite.
