In our part of the world, people only celebrate you when you are dead- Ofori Amponsah

The multi-award-winning artist underlined the value of helping people while they are still alive rather than waiting till they die away during an interview with Nana Ama Mcbrown on the Onua Showtime show on Sunday, May 2023.

Sometimes people want you to pass away before they praise you and say, "Oh, this guy was good," he remarked.

I rarely go to funerals since I don't really enjoy them that much. I think it's important to honor the living.

Offer someone a cup of water if they ask for one; don't wait until they pass away before going to get funeral supplies.

I don't understand this behavior; we really need to honor the living. You can ask someone for 1 cedi and they won't give it to you, but if you wait and let me pass away, they'll find vast sums of money to buy a coffin or offer donations.
