In the Bono Region's Berekum West district, around 280 members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in power have defected to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which is in opposition (NDC).

285 members have defected, and they come from a variety of communities, including Jinijini, Nsapor, Fetentaa, Amomaso, Koraso, and Bekasi.

At the NDC's 30th anniversary celebration held at Jinijini Community Center, they made their choice known.

They claim that the government led by Akufo-Addo was careless in its approach to the development of the Berekum West constituency, which led to their choice to leave the party (NPP).

Alex Obeng, also known as Etro mu Esum, a spokesperson for the defected members, said during the event that they feel betrayed and abandoned by the party despite the promises made to them before the 2016 and 2020 general elections.

"We feel used and dumped by a party we all backed in 2016 and 2020," he said.

The administration never told us the whole story. By doing this, we are giving notice that we are no longer NPP members.

Patrick Ofori, the apostle stated in an interview with Our Correspondent Mark Asante that the Npp Government has harmed the nation's reputation.

He claims they have deceived Ghanaians with tantalizing promises, but nothing has been done.

The defection of NPP members was welcomed by the chairman of the Bono regional NDC, Hon Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, who urged them to fight hard to overthrow the dysfunctional government.
