Kane takes England into Euro semis

England secured their place in the semi-finals of Euro 2020 in spectacular style as they handed Ukraine a 4-0 shellacking in Rome.

Harry Kane got them off to a dream start as he latched onto a brilliant pass from Raheem Sterling and poked the ball in the net inside four minutes.

It was the only match of EURO 2020 that England had to play away from their own yard, Wembley and it was the team’s most dominant performance of the tournament so far.

England has kept clean sheets in all five of its matches and they will now face Denmark on Wednesday at Wembley while Italy takes on Spain on Tuesday in the other semi-final encounter.

In what was surely their most complete performance of the tournament, the Three Lions were vastly superior to Andriy Shevchenko’s side.

The Three Lions continued to probe after taking the lead with Declan Rice stinging the hands of Ukraine goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan from distance.

They had one or two nervous moments in the first half though with Roman Yaremchuk forcing Jordan Pickford into a smart save after Kyle Walker gave the ball away.

But any nerves were all gone within the first five minutes of the second half as England raced to a 3-0 lead.

Harry Maguire made it 2-0 as he powerfully headed in Luke Shaw’s pinpoint free-kick from the left. Shaw became the provider once again as he crossed for Kane, who headed through the legs of Bushchan, the quickfire assists earning Shaw huge praise as the left-back was even dubbed ‘Shawberto Carlos’, a hilarious comparison to Brazilian icon Roberto Carlos.

The four semi-finalists – England, Denmark, Spain and Italy will play on Wednesday and Thursday to the determine the two teams that progresses to the finals on Sunday – July 11th at Wembley.
