Kenya's third president, Jomo Kenyatta, died on Friday at the age of 90.

Mr Kenyatta hailed Kibaki as a "patriot" for the qualities he upheld - "his ideals, his dignity, his diligence, candor and care for the well-being of all Kenyans" - in a statement announcing his death.
