Land-guards Insecurity Scare Hits Gomoa Buduburam
THOUSANDS of residents staying at Buduburam in the Gomoa East District in the Central Region are living in fear and panic.

This is as a result of incessant attacks on their homes and families by notorious land-guards who are working in league with some chiefs and other traditional office holders.
The frightened situation has informed the decision of the visibly worried residents to send a signal of fear and panic to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, over the current land-guards and robbery attacks in the area.

The distraught residents and landlords who have demonstrated against the activities of notorious land-guards in Gomoa Buduburam stressed the need for Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and President Akufo-Addo to come to their aid immediately before the situation escalates.
The residents with red armbands and chanting war songs have registered their dissatisfaction over the criminal activities of the notorious land-guards and robbers in the area where they extort huge amounts of monies from land developers.
"We are telling our President and IGP to intervene in this insecurity matter in our area because the most painful aspect of the issue is that these land-guards are forcibly collecting painting fee, plastering fee, roofing fee, tiling fee and POP fee, a situation they described as worrying and extortion, hence the demonstration," the protestors told journalists.

Addressing the media during the protest, Mr Bartholomew Narh, who spoke on behalf of the four different Landlords Associations, hinted that all efforts made at the Gomoa East District Assembly and chiefs of the area to curb the situation has yielded no positive results.
Meanwhile, some residents in the area who have suffered in the hands of these notorious land-guards have given government a one-month ultimatum to deal with the notorious activities of the land-guards for peace to prevail in the area.
"We are going to arm ourselves and match the notorious land-guards boot for boot if IGP and President Akufo-Addo refused to do something about the worrying situation immediately," they warned.
The residents in Gomoa Buduburam also summoned all security service commanders, including the Gomoa East District Chief Executive, Mr Solomon Darko Quarm, to answer questions on the state of security and crime in the area.
The residents want the security service to be up to the task in the fight against crimes such as armed robbery, land-guard activities, car, and motorbike snatching, among others.
According to them, the level of insecurity in the area was creating fear and panic among residents.
