According to Mr. Mensah who doubles as the former Deputy Coordinator of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress in the Eastern Region, they have come too far to bring down what we've built over the years with respect to the effort in making sure the Akwatia seat remains "green."

NDC Must Work Extra Hard To Retain Akwatia Seat In 2024 Polls-Former Eastern Regional Deputy TEIN Coordinator Advises
A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Region, Mr Eric Perry Mensah, called on the supporters and members of the party in Akwatia Constituency to work extra hard to retain the constituency parliamentary seat for the NDC in the 2024 general elections since the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is scheming to reclaim the seat from the NDC.

According to Mr. Mensah who doubles as the former Deputy Coordinator of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress in the Eastern Region, they have come too far to bring down what we had built over the years with respect to the effort in making sure the Akwatia seat remains "green."
He pointed out that ordeal their former Member of Parliament (MP), Honourable  Mohammed Baba Jamal suffered that caused the NDC to loss the seat to the NPP, Mrs Ama Say in 2016, "we don't have to let that happen to us again."
He stressed that "Who even thought NDC will win the Akwatia seat again after that distasteful events that happened to us as a party in the constituency.'
"I will in any day commend the Current Akwatia Constituency Chairman, Mr Moro Awal-led constituency executive committee for the tremendous effort in uniting and closing in the ranks and file to give us that victory which has today contributed to having NDC Speaker of Parliament and a hang Parliament.
"Back to my case, Honourable Seth, the District Chief Executive of the Denkyembuor District Assembly knows vividly that MP's common fund are not funds paid directly to the MP's account but rather the MP submits his proposed projects which is captured in the District's budget even before the funds are released.
"An NPP appointee, who doesn't know his purpose and agenda to create disaffection for our sitting MP to favour his candidate in 2024. Looking at the rate which sympathizers of Erasmus Ali Koney commonly known as  Asanka are sharing the video makes it look like it was deliberately done to cause disaffection for the incumbent Member of Parliament for Akwatia Constituency, Honourable Henry Yiadom Boakye due to the upcoming parliamentary Primary," he said.
He stressed that it should serve as a matter of urgency to the camp of Asanka to come out to state their position on the matter lest we will classify it as political gimmicks from him to create confusion in the minds of party faithfuls against the sitting MP.
"As an NDC Youth who is focused on protecting our existing Parliamentary seats and also championing the agenda to win more to have majority in Parliament which is one main agenda of the NDC Youth Wing, any attempts to jeopardize that will be met with brutal force intellectually and tactically.
"Today, the future of the Akwatia Youth is bleak under this NPP leadership, if the DCE has an address to make,  you he should rather focus on the interest of the people of Akwatia so far is Youth interest is concern. Businesses are going down each day and the people are crying of hardship, it should be prudent for him to address those  challenges to the President who appointed him.
He pointed out that it is evidently that  Henry Boakye (Okoyo) is delivering on his mandate even as an MP at a time his Party is in opposition. We must rally behind him to do more for our people.
He warned that "We must not creat weapons for the enemy to fight us when all is said and done. Because in the end we have a general election ahead of us and disunity will do us no good.
He said until the party open nominations, vet aspirants and clear them to become candidates, every attempts to denigrate our sitting MP should be classified as anti party conduct and must be dealt with accordingly.
