Nii Ofei III Has  No Hand In Bloody Clash In Krokobite -Blame Weija Divisional Police Commander; As Youth Call On IGP To Transfer Him

The Secretary to the Krokobite Divisional Stool under the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Ahene Emmanuel, has stated categorically that the gazetted Chief of Krokobite Fishing town, Nii Ofei III and his boys have no hands in the bloody gun battle which occurred at Krokobite on Thursday,y June 9, 2022.

According to him, at the time that this disturbing incident occurred, Nii Ofei III was invited to the Krokobite Police Station to answer various questions in the matters related to his and his elder's preparation to perform the necessary rituals that fateful day to lift the ban on drumming and noisemaking in the Ga State.

"I want to state on the records and also swear our ancestors and God almighty that Nii Ofei III and l [Ahene Emmanuel] were with the police at Krokobite Police Station when we heard that there is a gunshot for which we were told that one person is confirmed dead, while two others, including a fifteen-year-old bo,y sustained gunshot wounds who were said to have been rushed to the hospital for the medical treatment.

"So what comes that the media has reported that Nii Ofei III has ordered his boys to shoot the gun and killed the people," M.r Emmanuel denied the allegations leveled against Nii Ofei III and called on these media houses to immediately render an unqualified apology to Nii Ofei III.
Mr. Emmanuel was responding to the New Crusading Guide newspaper report on Friday, June 10, 2022 edition with the screaming headline: "Ga Battle @ Krokobite...As Nii Ofei III Boys On Shooting Spree, Kill Asafoatse and others."
He stated emphatically that there are factual inaccuracies coupled with propaganda and baseless allegations throughout the report of the newspaper.
He, therefore cautioned the newspaper to stop its continuous practices of publishing one-sided stories all the time that there are misunderstandings between the members of the  Nii Ofei family and the Nii Arde Nkpa Family of Plerno, saying that their reports always created confusion and tension in the area.
Following this development, Mr. Emmanue called on the general public, particularly the citizens of Krokobite both at home and those who are leaving abroad (diaspora) to disregard the media reports linking Nii Ofei III to the gun shooting which occurred on Thursday,y June 9, 202,2 in the area.
According to him, records were with the police officers at the Krokobite Police Station that Nii Ofei III together with Chief of Plernor, Nii Arde Nkpa VI who has been parading himself as the chief of Krokobite has been kept in the police custody before the gunfight has erupted at Krokobite.
Mincing no words, M.r Emmanuel pointed accusing fingers at the Weija Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent, Mr. Freeman Kumashie for allegedly teaming up with the clandestine guidance of some elders of Nii Arde Nkpa Family of Plerno and Kokrobite to cause a series of mayhems in the Krokobite township.

He called on the Police Management Board (POMAB) to impress upon the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), D.r George Akuffo Dampare to transfer the Weija Divisional Police Commander for meddling himself into the chieftaincy and land disputes which have been causing bloody violence in Krokobite and its adjoining communities in the Ga South municipality.

He stressed that if Chief Superintendent, Mr... Freeman Kumashie' was not transferred from the Weija Divisional Police Command, the violent clash at Krokobite would continue to happen because the senior police are in the league with the elders of the Plerno in Accra to attack the family members of Nii Ofei of Krokobite.
Mr. Emmanuel stated that the Weija Divisional Police Commander and  Chief Superintendentwere were to be blamed for the Thursday gun battle which has happened in the area, saying that the culprits who shot the gun were hired by the elders of the Nii Ardey Npka Clan of Plerno.

According to him, they were accusing the senior police officer because he refused to act professionally to deploy his officers at Krokobite Police State which was Weija Divisional Police Command in Ga South Municipality to prevent the faction of the Nii Arde Nkpa Family of Plerno led by Nii Arde Nkpa VI who stormed Krokobite on Thursday,y June, 2022,2 to perform traditional rituals to lift the ban of drumming and noisemaking. The traditional and customary rituals that elders of the  Nii Arde Nkpa Family had not been performed before in the history of Krokobite.

He explained that since the installation of Nii Ofei III as the legally and traditionally installed Chief of Krokobite in the year 2010, there are records that had been attested to the fact that Nii Ofei III has been performing these necessary traditional rituals in Krokobite.

"So how comes that the elders of Nii Arde Nkpa clan Plerno would come to Krokobite that very day to carry such traditional rituals since we the traditional authorities of Krokobite headed by Nii Ofei III had officially written a letter to the Police Administration informing them of our programs of activities towards this year's annual celebration of Homowo which we have performing since in 2010," he stated.
He pointed out that before the baning of the drumming and noisemaking in Accra, the police had written to the traditional authorities in Krokobite heard by Nii Ofei III to furnish them with their programs of activities marking this year's annual' Homowo' festival.

"Under the police letter to the Krokobite Divisional Police and submitted to the office of the Krokrobite Divisional Chief requesting the traditional authorities to furnish the police with the itineraries from this time December 2022, I wrote a letter and was signed by the Krokobite Divisional Stool and furnished the commander with his request.
"The letter details that from May 9, 202,2 to June 9, 2022, there will an observance of a mouth s silence. The letter sought the assistance of the police in the maintenance of peace within the area.
"The activities include cleansing of the millet farm, planting of millet, the Divisional Chief of Krokrobite shall play the traditional drum," Mr. Emmanuel narrated.
He added that the letter informed the Chief Superintendent Mr. Freeman Kumashie that we will be using musketeers but he begged us not to use it.
"The Chief Superintendent Freeman Kumashie said we can go there to pour the libation upon inviting us to the Weija Divisional Police Command at the Weija tollbooth and pleaded with us not to use the musketeers with maximum security," Mr. Emmanuel explained.
"So all of sudden, on Thursday, June 9, 2022, it was time for us to go there and we learned that Nii Addae Nkpa VII came to Krokobite to perform the rites.
"And upon hearing that information for the peace to prevail in the town, the chief of Krokobite, Nii Ofei III went to inform the police that it was the time for him to go and perform. And from there that Nii Ofei III was kept in the police cell till this morning when we went to the court. So Nii Ofei III was not at the scene where the incident happened," Mr. Emmanuel set the record straight.
It will be recalled that one person is confirmed dead, while two others, including a fifteen-year-old boy, are receiving treatment at the hospital following a gun battle at Krokobite.
According to the media report, the two factions are involved in the gun battle over who has the right to perform rituals to lift the ban on drumming and noise-making.
