Cashew Traders and Exporters Association of Ghana, Nkoranza Branch in the Bono East region have revealed that the cashew business in Ghana has been a failure due to the interference of foreigners.

According to them, Indians and other foreigners are increasingly interacting with people and purchasing cashew straight from growers in their villages, which is illegal.

They claimed that the government and the Ministry of Agriculture should take quick action to prevent foreigners from purchasing cashews at farm gates.

They urged the government to prohibit all outsiders, particularly Indians, from entering the country as soon as possible so that the cashew industry, which employs thousands of Nkoranza youth, does not perish.

They also threaten to take the law into their own hands if the government does not halt their criminal operations.

"Farmers need also thoroughly dry their cashew nuts to match the standard price", they added.

Meanwhile, some cashew producers are dissatisfied with the way cashew purchasers exploit them.

The buyers, the farmer's lament, appear to be unaware of the ramifications that the Cashew growers face before harvesting their seed for sale.

They further claimed that the costs incurred before harvesting make cashew growing an unappealing business.

Buyers employ faulty justifications to manipulate the market.
As a result, they requested that the government give rapid attention to the problem.
