There was a battle between the officers from the Sunyani Social Welfare Department and some aggrieved youths in Nkrankwanta of the Dormaa West District in the Bono Region on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, which situation has created serious tension in the area.

There was a battle between the officers from the Sunyani Social Welfare Department and some aggrieved youths in Nkrankwanta of the Dormaa West District in the Bono Region on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, which situation has created serious tension in the area.
 
The development followed when some officers of the Social Welfare Department from Sunyani on Tuesday, March 15, 2020, came to Nkrankwanta and decided to pick up the abandoned child after he has been discharged from the Dormaa West District Hospital.
But some youths in Nkrankwanta township have resisted for which the baby has been reportedly sent back to the hospital.
According to the information available to Soireenews.com from the eyewitnesses, it took the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa West District Assembly  Mr. Francis K. Oppong, and traditional authorities in Nkrankwanta. about two hours to calm down the aggrieved youth but they couldn't solve the problem.
The child was discovered by a resident who was alarmed by the cries of the baby while attending to nature’s call.
She told journalists that she trailed the sound of the baby to one of the cubicles where she discovered blood clots all over the floor and water closet. 
According to her, she raised an alarm which caught the attention of some residents with their help, the water closet was destroyed in other to rescue the baby
The Assemblyman for the Asuopri electoral area, Mr. Yusif Issah rushed the child to the Dormaa West District Hospital at Nkrankwanta, where it is currently being treated.
 
According to the information available to Soireenews.com from the eyewitnesses, it took the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa West District Assembly  Mr. Francis K. Oppong, and traditional authorities in Nkrankwanta. about two hours to calm down the aggrieved youth but they couldn't solve the problem
 
Meanwhile, Mr. Oppong reiterated his call on the various philanthropists, corporate institutions, and Individual Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) to come to the aid of a new-born baby boy who was dumped in a public toilet at Nkrankwanta and rescued and now at the female ward of the Dormaa West District Hospital.
 
According to the DCE, the hospital authorities have confirmed to him that the rescued baby is safe and healthy and needs nutrient-rich baby foods to eat and survive.
 
In this regard, the DCE assured the Assembly's commitment and readiness to take full financial responsibility of the baby and has therefore called on various philanthropists, corporate institutions, and Individual Non-governmental Organisations to come to the aid of the baby.
Earlier, the DCE noted that when he was informed about the incident on the evening of Monday, March 7, 2022, he tasked the Dormaa West District Police Commander to visit the baby in the hospitalon Tuesday, March 8, 2022, to find out the information about the baby.
The DCE added that he also tasked the senior police officer to officially inform the Social Welfare Directorate of the area so they go to the hospital in order to follow up on the issue.
Following this development, according to the DCE, he has officially reported the incident to the Bono Regional Minister and other key government authorities in the Region.
He assured that he would laisse with the Assembly and the Dormaa West District Security Community (DISEC) on how best they can commit themselves to seeking the welfare of the abandoned baby.
The Assemblyman for the Asuopri electoral area, Yusif Issah, indicated that this is the second such incident to be recorded in less than a year.
But the DCE confirmed that a report has been made to the police and an investigation is underway to identify the mother of the abandoned body.
