The Obengkrom Basic School in the Suaman District of the Western North region has commemorated its 30th-anniversary celebration with a series of events which saw the active participation of past and present staff and students of the school.

The School which is located at Obengkrom, a suburb of Dadieso was established in 1991 with 41 pupils to educate children of the Obengkrom community and beyond.

Speaking at the grand durbar to mark the milestone, the Headmaster of the school, Mr Samuel Akakpo, expressed joy at the successes the school has attained as the school has 215 students in its 30th year.

He stated that as an institution, he and his staff have worked extremely hard, as the fore administrators had done, taking into account the cognitive, spiritual, and physical development of the children in the community as progressive.

Mr Samuel Akakpo made a special commendation to the Chiefs, Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) for their crucial provisions to some needs of the school.

Assing that, the school lacks furniture for the wards, therefore appealed to stakeholders and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school to cater for the needs of the children.

As part of the celebration, the authorities of the school organized to raise funds to build Junior High School classroom blocks and teachers' bungalows in a bid to enhance teaching and learning since the school lacks these facilities.

"We've taken part in Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) twice since the establishment of the school but we don't have any classroom blocks for the Junior High Students who study in a church provided to them by the elders in the community and in heartfelt, we don't have teachers' bungalows here, all the teachers travel from Dadieso to this place, and Dadieso is far from here, in fact, we're suffering", Mr Akakpo bemoaned and mentioned Other needed item the school needs include teacher's chairs and tables to give the school a facelift.

The Assemblyman for the Antokrom Electoral Area, Honourable Azamatsi Ernest, who resides at Obengkrom reiterated that the lack of facilities for the basic school is abhorring and he had preceded to seek assistance from stakeholders but has yielded in vain, hence taking advantage to seek for funds for classroom blocks and the teacher's bungalow.

The Queen mother of Obengkrom, Nana Agyeiwaa Felicia on her part expressed worry over the bad infrastructure of the school since its establishment till date, therefore, appealed for assistance since it is the only educational facility in the community.
