A team of police personnel has been deployed to the Kumasi Racecourse market in the Kumasi Metropolis to resolve the clash between the Kumasi Markets Association and Second-hand clothing sellers over a piece of land.

The two trading groups on Tuesday evening violently confronted each other on an allocated land. The situation Wednesday morning repeated rising tensions on the grounds as to who the legitimate occupant of the land is.

This comes after the traders were evacuated from the Kumasi Central Market to pave way for the continuation of the redevelopment of the market.

The second-hand traders said that the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah allocated the land to them whiles the Market Association comprising the Yam, Tomato and Adwene sellers have also claimed that the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi made the land available for them.

Meanwhile, the Kumasi Metropolitan Security Council has scheduled to meet with both feuding factions today to resolve the issue.
