Save citizens, the nation with good policies and leadership style- Nana Kwaku ofori Atta, Security Consultant writes

In these uncertain times, what citizens of a nation in the sub-Saharan Africa demand may include but are not limited to a good policy and leadership.

All these take strategic tight secured security policies deliberated to be initiated by government to ensure passage into law.

When passed into law, according to a security Consultant, Nana Kwaku Ofori Atta should be established as a mandatory duty for leadership to secure the safety of the citizens and the nation at large.

They must be geared towards the protection of the nation's national resources (human beings/ Assets ) to avoid the phenomenon of disaster occurrence.

Often Government invests huge sums of taxpayers' money in building/constructing projects which at the end of the day turn into ( liabilities )to citizens and the environment due to poor maintenance /managerial culture.

To cite just one of these numerous projects the “circle interchange project “ which happens to sit in flood annually whenever there is a heavy downpour of rain.

I am tempted to ask if indeed this kind of government project went through broader consultations by engaging certified field professionals before they were done.

I think as concerned citizens we need to begin to demand policies from the government instead of embracing the culture of accepting donations on grounds of sympathy.

Donations are good, but the question remains, do they resolve the crisis of disaster permanently?

Again Do Donations bring back lives and properties lost to disasters? The answer remains a big No.

Using disasters to gain public sympathy, to me, is unacceptable.

I believe the time has come for chiefs to begin to use their custodian laws to negotiate with the government to resolve disasters that occur in their traditional areas annually instead of opening their doors to accept donations to assist victims of disasters.

I believe the Volta Region disaster is a general wake-up call as a nation to do what’s right for citizens and the nation at large to prevent these kinds of unfortunate disasters from repeating themselves.
