Shatta Wale makes fun of Burna Boy and Davido for not winning Grammy Awards

Dancehall icon Charles Nii Armah Mensah, also known as Shatta Wale, has pulled the legs of Davido and Burna Burna Boy, two superstars from Nigeria.

The most recent individual to mock the pair after their defeat at the 66th Grammy Awards, which took place on February 5, 2024, is Shatta Wale.

Davido was nominated three times at the 66th Grammy Awards, which ended recently.

His single "Feel" was nominated for Best Global Music Performance; his album "Timeless" for Best Global Album; and his song "Unavailable" for Best African Music Performance.

Tyla of South Africa won Best African Music Performance, and Davido lost two Grammy Award nominations to Indian performers.

However, Burna Boy did not win any of the four categories despite receiving four nominations: Best Global Music Performance for his song "Alone," Best Global Music Album for his album "I Told Them," Best Rap Song for his song "Sittin' on Top of the World" with 21 Savage, and Best Music Video.

Many people have responded by saying that the Grammy doesn't give these African performers any recognition—rather, it only uses them to sell their concerts.

Shatta Wale asserts that everything was fair, despite the opinions of other music fans who believe the two were duped in the awards ceremony.

Shatta Wale responded by saying that any singer hoping to be recognized should work really hard to understand how to cry.

According to Shatta Wale, musicians will only have to cry if they don't get recognized for their achievements.

He remarked, "Learn to cry because you will cry sometimes if you want to learn how to be an award winner in this music business."

But he acknowledged that it hurts a lot when a musician puts in a lot of effort and then receives no credit for it.

"Tough when you put in a lot of effort and don't get acknowledged for it," he continued.
