Speed Investigations into the killing of Abdul Hakim - Minority leader to IGP

The Member of Parliament for the Tamale South Constituency and minority leader in Parliament, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has called on the police administration to Fastrack an investigation into the murder of Abdul Hakim.

The deceased was among three other individuals who sustained gunshot wounds when some police personnel open fire on a driver and agitated youth of Lamasheigu in the Tamale Metropolis.

The lawmaker who addressed Journalists at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue after observing the helpless body of the late Abdul Hakim condemned the police.

He charged the Inspector General of police to instruct for a scale investigation into the murder and the Shooting.

According to him, the police have no right to shoot and kill a civilian except under extraordinary circumstances.

He tasked the government of Ghana to be responsible for the murder and the medical bills of the victims who are still receiving treatment at the emergency ward.

Hon. Haruna stated that the police have on several occasions undertaken similar operations in Tamale and that there will be challenges in Tamale if the trust the public has for the police break.

He used the opportunity to appeal to the chief of Lamasheigu and opinion leaders of the community to calm the nerves of the youth.

The deceased is yet to be released to the family for burials.
