Techiman South MCE pledges support to GNFS

The Municipal Chief Executive for Techiman Honourable. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko has pledged to support the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) within the Bono East Region to function properly.

He made this pledge when he visited both the Regional and Municipal fire services as part of his working visit to Institutions, Departments and Agencies.
Welcoming the MCE into the institution, the Regional Fire Commander DCFO Frimpong Annim George outlined some challenges facing them as inadequate office accommodation, inadequate fire hydrant, lack of proper vehicle, lack of fire certificate for residential houses etc.
He, therefore, urged the Municipal Assembly to come to their aid to render good service for the people.
Responding to their request, Hon Gyarko said on the fire precautions measures, the assembly will collaborate with the fire service before permits are issued and the physical planning will take note of it.
He also said the assembly together with Ghana Water Company is working to get new fire hydrants as the existing ones are also going to maintain and they have to charge the municipal commander to work on it.
The Ghana National Fire Service is known to be faced with challenges.
Some of the challenges include lack of appropriate logistics to fight fires, inaccessibility to fire sites, inadequate training facilities and the inability of GNFS to carry out a fire risk assessment before operations.
But the service has assured it is on course managing such challenges for better delivery of their services.
