Tension Brews In Winneba As Chiefs In  Gomoa And Effutu Disagree With Government's Attempt To Mine Gold And Lithium At Winneba Ramsea  Site

According to the Angry chiefs, ministry of Lands and Natural resources has given the said area to Green Metals mining company as a concession to  do minning activities which includes gold and Lithium without the knowledge of Nananom who are the Allodial owners of the lands a situation they described as worrying.

Nananom in three Traditional Areas Effutu, Gomoa Ajumako and Gomoa Akyampim traditional Councils have kicked against government cabinet decision to have allocated the Winneba Ramsa site for a mining company called Green Metals mining company.

According to the Angry chiefs, ministry of Lands and Natural resources has given the said area to Green Metals mining company as a concession to  do minning activities which includes gold and Lithium without the knowledge of Nananom who are the Allodial owners of the lands a situation they described as worrying.

We can't sit down and loose our heritage and so therefore, we stand on our Powers to kick against the government cabinet decision hence calling on the president Akuffo Addo to call his minister Abu Jinapor to order, they said.
The Paramount chief of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional council Obrempong Nyanful Krampah addressing  the media in a joint Press conference noted that, they are calling on the government, Ministry of Lands and Natural resources, Mineral Commission to immediately revoke the concession license given to Green Metals mining company to prevent bloodshed in the area.

Moreover, the Paramount chief for Effutu traditional council Nenyi Ghartey vi has note that, the Ramsa site is the only forest where they hunt for deers to celebrate Aboakyir festival so there's the need to protect the forest than to destroy it.
The Paramount chief for Gomoa Akyampim traditional Council Obirifo Ahunuako Ankobea ii noted that, the three Paramountcy will soon form taskforce committee to monitor the forest and will make sure the forest is protected from any mining activities.
