This is the reason why Afua Asantewaa's effort to set a world record at the Sing-a-thon was rejected

Afua disobeyed some of their regulations, therefore they alerted Joy FM by mail that she couldn't make the mark. 

“Afua Asantewaa’s singathon attempt was not successful due to guidelines around rest break timings not being met. These rules are standard across all of our ‘longest marathon’ records,” PR Executive for the Guinness World Records, Alina Polianskaya replied to a mail by Joy FM.

The Guinness World Records said on Friday, February 23, 2024, that Afua Asantewaa of Ghana was unable to surpass her own record for the longest singing marathon, which she had attempted in December 2023.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the GWR stated as much, adding that they hope she tries again despite the setback.

They also said that Afua Asantewaa's team received a reimbursement for the money they spent on a priority review.

In December 2023, Afua Asantewaa accepted the challenge to break the current record, which was set in 2012 and stands at 105 hours.

The five-day singing marathon that Asantewaa underwent started at midnight on Sunday, December 24, 2023, and ended at 7:00 am on December 29, 2023.

The young woman had sung for five days, six hours, and fifty-five minutes when she called it quits on her effort to break the record on Friday morning.

After learning of her disqualification, Afua posted on social media to say that she learned of the results of her sing-a-thon just before hosting a gala dinner and President Nana Akufo-Addo's attendance at the launch of the Lebanese Scholarship Alumni Network.

In a few days, I will reveal my next course of action, she declared. I appreciate everyone's kindness and support.

The Ghana Tourism Authority has designated her as a Tourism Ambassador in the meantime.
