Wawase Resident calls on government for educational support

Madam Comfort Entire, the school teacher stressed that teaching and learning have become tough due to the high number of students who are thought by only two (2) teachers at the Wawase L-A basic school.

The Former Committee Chairman for Wawase, a community in the Eastern Region Mr. Padmon Lemawu has urged Honourable. Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah minister for information and member of Parliament (MP) for Ofoase Ayirebi constituency and the District Chief Executive (DCE) for  Atwemase district Honourable Pual Asamoah to come to their aid to improve the conditions of Wawase L/A primary school.

Speaking to Mr. Padmon  Lemawu known as Akuapim Brother he disclosed that, the residents of  Wawase started the establishment of the school to help the school children of their area, adding that, more than (70) students are currently learning in a single classroom due to infrastructural deficit which is a huge concern.

He further called on the  Government led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuff-Addo to employ more teachers to Wawase L/A primary school since the school has only two teachers who are also paid by residents.

Adding that, the school lacks equipment because some of the students study under trees whiles they sit on the bench whenever teaching and learning take place. Some teachers who are ready to teach with zeal to assist the government's aim of enhancing education would only come to light when some of these challenges are been addressed",

She pleaded with the government and the Member of  Parliament to come to their aid.

Mr. Lemawu Matthias on behalf of the residents of Wawase expressed how worried they are about Wawase L/A primary school's current state.  

 He explained that KG, KG1, and class one have been merged while class 2, class 3, and 4 are facing the same.

He thinks the situation will affect student academics negatively if swift intervention does not take place.


Lemma Princess a student, said pupils in her class are worried regarding the current state of the school. She pleaded with the government to support them by constructing a school building for them. She also pleaded to the government to assist them with more teachers to enhance education in the area.
