You will go hungry and bankrupt if you perform music in Ghana - De Thompson DDT

Anyone who decides to pursue a career in music in Ghana should be ready to experience financial ruin and hunger, according to the sound engineer.

"As for Ghana," he said, "you might go hungry when you come here and resolve to do music, and it's true, so if someone tells you that they've succeeded through music, it's a lie.

The 'Yeni Da Ho' singer and music producer claims that given the significant investments required, earning money in the Ghanaian entertainment industry is quite challenging.

"Let me say that if someone claims he's made it through movies or music it's impossible because there's only money in it through the entertainment business for football," he continued.

He said on Cape Coast-based Property Radio, "Because for music you'll invest a lot of money to go and record your song and shoot a music video but everywhere you take the song to you need to pay before they'll play."

"The only time you make money from music is when you are scheduled to perform at a concert, but how will you get your money back if the song doesn't reach that peak?" he said, according to Amansan Krakye of Showbiz on Property.
