Avoid Ritual Killings In Assin Lands Now—Group Warns 

THE NETWORK for Assin Development has called on the young people to avoid engaging in ritual killings in the area, charging the traditional leaders, particularly the Central Regional House of Chiefs to wake up from their slumber to help the ritual killings in Assin lands now.

The Network for Assin Development has recently become aware of a deeply troubling and inhumane issue within the community – the alarming trend of sharing blood. 

This devastating practice has caught the attention of the organization, prompting an urgent call to address and rectify the situation.

The Network for Assin Development is profoundly saddened and alarmed by the recent tragic incidents of violence within families, reaching an unprecedented level where a child has gone as far as beheading their parents. 

This inhumane act, never before recorded in our history, has deeply troubled the organization and underscores the urgency of addressing underlying issues contributing to such extreme behavior within the community.

Such unprecedented and inhumane actions demand collective and urgent intervention to prevent further occurrences.

One particularly tragic incident etched in our memory occurred on February 19, 2016, at Assin Akrofuom in the Assin South Municipality, where Kwasi Ganu claimed the lives of his parents and two others. 

Unfortunately, a similar incident unfolded on January 24, 2024, when a son gruesomely beheaded his father without apparent justification.

The Network acknowledges that these incidents stain the region's reputation, hindering its progress and development. 

The continuous recurrence of such acts poses a significant threat to the peace and well-being of Assin residents.

The organization underscores the pressing need for intervention from parents, security agencies, traditional leaders, and the wider community. Fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and non-violence within families is paramount.

The community must unite to support and guide its youth, providing constructive avenues for expression and conflict resolution.

In a stern plea, the Network for Assin Development calls upon the youth to abstain from ritual killings, emphasizing that such practices are not reflective of the Central Region's historical values. 

The organization is taking a proactive stance to discourage the youth from engaging in activities that go against the region's traditional identity, urging them to uphold a culture of respect, peace, and non-violence.

Parents are urged to establish open communication channels with their children, promoting trust and understanding. Security agencies are implored to remain vigilant and proactive in identifying and addressing potential threats to family safety.

Traditional leaders, particularly the Central Regional House of Chiefs, play a pivotal role in instilling values of respect, empathy, and peace within the youth. Immediate action is imperative to address the situation and guide the community towards healing and unity.

Over the past 5 to 10 years, the Central Region has witnessed a disturbing trend that demands collective introspection and remedial action.
