Bessa Simons: MUSIGA will provide musicians to tourist destinations to project GH music

Ghana's music would be more visible on the international scene if it included dance and music, two essential components of the country's culture.

Bessa Simons stated in a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz that tourists should be allowed to experience music and dance as well as the physical beauty of the destinations, since they were often ignored when it came to music and dance customs.

As part of the project, MUSIGA will coordinate with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to send musical groups and cultural troupes to particular tourist destinations.

"MUSIGA will offer a comprehensive representation of Ghana's music landscape, whether visitors are in the Northern Region experiencing traditional instruments or in the Central Region enjoying Asafo music," he stated.

He clarified that the project will entail cooperation between the local artists in the areas and the authorities in charge of the different tourist attractions.

They would collaborate to create a detailed strategy for incorporating dance and music performances into the tourism offering.

To choose the best performance schedule, a number of elements must be carefully taken into account, including the number of visitors each year.

Weekly, fortnightly, or monthly shows may be chosen by certain sites based on discussions and agreements with participating musicians.

You see, music has a special place wherever you travel, therefore you can't ignore it when discussing tourism. And the fact that music can still bring back memories of Ghana is one of the things that people carry with them," he continued.

Bessa Simons told Graphic Showbiz that MUSIGA was planning to conduct a Ghana Music Festival every December in addition to improving the traveler experience.
