Raheem Sterling has commended the Premier League’s support towards the Black Lives Matter Movement.

Aston Villa v Sheffield United and Manchester City v Arsenal played on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, took a knee before kickoff, and during cooling break in memory of George Floyd by giving a meaningful gesture in modern football; an act to convey a message that Black Lives indeed matters.

The Back of their shirts had players' names replaced by Black Lives Matter as stated earlier by the PL.

Speaking after City’s against Arsenal, Sterling made known that the decision is a worthy one and would alter a global change.

"I just see it as a massive step for the Premier League to allow something like that to happen. It show we’re going in the right direction, little by little we’re seeing change, that’s what we’re looking for, not just black players, most of the country.

“It’s evolved naturally, organically, we’ve seen other teams do it, in the earlier kick-off and I think it’s something we felt we had to do as well."

City were victors on the night with a 3-0 win against Mikel Arteta’s side. The Gunners went down to 10-men when David Luiz was sent off following a harsh challenge on Riyad Mahrez in the penalty box.

Raheem Sterling was on the scoresheet as it took the home team to break the deadlock in additional time in the first 45 minutes behind closed doors.

"We expected it to be weird, but the message has been to find something inside ourselves, dig deep and I thought the boys kept their composure and fought to the end.

"First 10 or 15 minutes was about getting use to the atmosphere and getting the cobwebs off, and after that we controlled it well. I've beaten myself up about not scoring, but I knew I'd get an opportunity and had to take it.

"We've got to listen to the safety tips, abut it's football. In the last few days the boys have all tested negative, and a few fist bumps can't hurt anyone."

Norwich City will play Southampton at the Carrow Road on Friday, June 19, 2020 before Spurs welcome Manchester United in London in Matchday 30.
