The EC in its earlier release scheduled 5 pm on December 8, 2020, to declare the winner of the presidential elections.

The new timeline is reported to be communicated shortly as it continually reiterated that “transparency, integrity, and fairness are the yardstick by which it conducted the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.”

They have thereby cautioned "candidates, their supporters, the media and public are urged to desist from declaring Presidential election results as this is in contravention of the law and a threat to the peace and stability of the nation.”
