Metropolitan Municipal District Chief Executives

The President’s Metropolitan Municipal District Chief Executives nominees have been confirmed by the Assembly members in their various Assemblies.

Five (5) MMDCES on Thursday, October 7, 2021, were inaugurated by the Regional Minister at the Regional Coordinating Council hall at Damongo the capital in the Savannah region.

The inaugural ceremony brought together MMDCES who have successfully gone through confirmation processes including West Gonja Municipal, Central Gonja District and North Gonja District. The rest are Sawla- Tuna-Kalba District and North East Gonja District.

At the occasion were the Regional minister, some Assembly members of the various MMDAs, representatives of RESEC and DISEC.

The MMDCES have taken the Local Government Oath of Office and sworn in into office.

The Municipal Chief Executive, MCE for West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Honourable Karimu Musah Kusubari used the opportunity to express his heartfelt appreciation to the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Regional Minister, Hon Saeed Muhazu Gibril Jegede and the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and also Member of Parliament for Damongo Hon Samual Abu Jinapor.

“I have sworn to serve the people faithfully and impartially, and I will be steadfast, loyal and fair as I undertake the functions of office today till when I end my tenure in this public office as the Municipal Chief Executive and for that matter, The president's representative” he added.
 
The five MMDCES who took the Oath of office are duly and legitimately kick start development activities in their various Assemblies.

The other MMDCES who were not part of this process could not meet the required percentage out of the confirmation voting process including Salaga Municipal and Bole district.

They have a second attempt to go through another confirmation process and if they fail to get two-thirds then a new nomination would be required by the president of the Republic.
