The Ashanti Regional Minister has cautioned that failure to oblige by the various health protocols of covid-19 could lead to a catastrophe.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Honourable Simon Osei Mensah has urged all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE’s) to ensure mandatory wearing of nose masks by the populace in their various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to curtail the spread of the COVID-19.

The Ashanti Region has, unfortunately, recorded severe active cases, hospitalization and deaths. On 11th April 2020, active cases were 87 with 16 deaths yet as of 27th July 2020 the active cases had hopped to 1,217 with 297 deaths.

July 31, 2020 logged active cases 1,253 with 304 deaths.

Honourable Simon Osei Mensah during a meeting with the press at the Regional Coordinating Council in the capital of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, as a matter of urgency demanded that MMDCEs provide Veronica buckets at public places including markets, Lordy parks and health centres.

Sanitisers are also recommended to be stocked at public places, make public announcements to increase awareness of the new wave and ensure to enforce the health protocols outlined by the Ministry of Health.

He made known that all institutions and offices within its jurisdiction must provide Veronica buckets and sanitiser at the entrances to their offices and enforce all restrictions on public gatherings as spelt out in the President’s 26th address to the nation on the Covid situation.
