Hospital authorities must intensify supervision to curb maternal mortality - Advocate

The Founder of Ramseyer Prayer & Herbal Center at Amanase in the Eastern Region, Reverend Dr. Nana Takyi Asiedu who is also a maternal mortality Advocate has stated that Maternal mortality is on the rise in the country as a result of what he described as poor supervision on the side of the hospital authorities. 

Speaking in an interview with Kwaku Mensah Abrampa on Gye Nyame Fm's morning show, Rev. Dr. Nana Takyi Asiedu attributed negligence on duty, lackadaisical attitude of some health workers, and poor supervision among some  hospital authorities as the major cause of these recent happening maternal mortality in the various hospitals

He stressed that there are a lot of instances where some health workers fail to attend to the hospital on time to undertake their duties which negatively affects the delivery of quality health services hence the high rate of death among most pregnant women indicating that some pregnant women sometimes end up at church services for spiritual protection due to the negligence of health workers on duty.

He has therefore called on hospital administrators to intensify supervision to ensure quality health care.

Reverend Dr. Nana Takyi Asiedu pleaded with the government to assign the nurses and midwives to work immediately after they complete their education denoting that their acquired skills in school need to be practiced constantly for effective work delivery therefore government must ensure that health workers from the various midwifery and nurses training colleges are posted on time to ensure quality health care
