In national operations, Nigeria seizes 200,000 illegal tablets.

In operations around the country, Nigeria's drug control administration claims to have collected about 200,000 pills of various pharmaceutical painkillers and illicit drugs.

It comes after weeks of monitoring and raids on suspected drug traffickers' hideouts.

Femi Babafemi, a spokesman for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), said multiple arrests had been made.

The agency also said it had prevented new drug gang attempts to export tramadol, ecstasy, and cannabis through the Lagos airport to Milan, Italy, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

A female traveler was also detained while attempting to board a Royal Air Maroc trip from Lagos to Milan via Casablanca with 1,000 tramadol tablets hidden in food.
