The Kasoa branch of the Ghana Union of Traders Association(GUTA) in the Awutu Senya East Municipality has begun locking up shops of foreigners who are illegally plying their trades within the enclave.

According to Public Relations Officer for Kasoa GUTA  branch, Mr Bright Agyemang said, for a year now, Kasoa has complained to the government about foreigners intruding on their business but the government remain adamant about their plea.

GUTA wants to protect Ghana law according to GIPC law 865, Section 27 which defines the particular work of foreigners.

"We are protecting the law as the president himself said we should be citizens, not spectators," they told.

He interacted with the media during the exercise that started this morning around 3:00 am.

Meanwhile, the Deputy PRO for Kasoa GUTA  branch, Mr Enest Achampong says that the Foreigners are abreast with the law, if they fall victim, they will treat them as armed robbers and will send them to court.

They are waiting for the leaders from the National to declare if the foreigners qualify to work in Ghana.
