He highlighted on the significance of the Ghanaian culture at the Inaugural Ceremony of the Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Ghana Culture Forum held at the Center for National Culture

Legendary Gospel musician, Prof. Kofi Abraham has spoken on the need for Ghana to clinge unto its cultural practices to help promote the best of Ghanaian creativity and heritage.

He also spoke on the necessity of the Ghana Cultural Forum to help unify the various cultural stakeholders who want to see the legacy of the nation thrive across the world.

“We have neglected our culture today whiles the whites are into our heritage trying to absorb the best through knowledge for use. That shows the value of our culture and the need to hold unto it well,” he said.

 

 

“The Association, as we have been notified is a step in the right direction and will unify us as a body to project our cultural practices. However, the fact that we choose leadership to steer the entire drive does not enslave the rest of us. Every leader has a mandate to his members likewise the members,” he added.

Prof. Abraham was speaking at the Inaugural Ceremony of the Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Ghana Culture Forum held at the Center for National Culture in Kumasi on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the Quarshie Idun Hall, Kumasi.

The Ghana Culture Forum is a membership civil society consultative forum, which is a network of cultural practitioners, activists and organizations united around a common vison of affirming the cultural foundations of development and enhancing the cultural sector.

 

 

It serves as an umbrella body for its members and is bound by the principle of collective leadership and action, which however does not exempt each of the members of their individual responsibility for specific functions or tasks.

According to the musician, cultural stakeholders with a consensus will help project the Ghanaian values and open up possibilities to infuse the heritage back to life to educate and transform the new and yet to come generations.

He encouraged members on the need to absorb the principles and seek knowledge of what has been missing to give an accurate account when called to define events in reference to the country.

“We must devote out time and effort to search for every missing piece of our culture if we want to influence people and bring them together ‘in either a written form for future reference. I strongly believe that our coming together will help propel our visions to help empower the mission we have,” he ended.

 

 

Agya Koo Nimo, a musician and a former MUSIGHA president also called on the need to preserve, promote and enrich the Ghanaian culture through exchanging with others. He stressed on the need to keep it alive and offer it as a contribution to the worldly community.

He further highlighted that togetherness is a solvent to challenging circumstances.

“Togetherness is a key in every area of man’s life. Even in marriage, If a man and woman are refused to be joined together, things does not go as planned. togetherness is agreement and its very needful yet aside all that, reverence play a key role in helping it to function.

“Fame is a vapor, popularity is an accident, riches take wings. Only one thing can be yours; character," he ended.
