Mr. James Kwaku Debrah Ussher, a retired educationist of the Ghana Education Service has urged the government to make Twi the second official language of the country.

Mr. Debrah-Ussher in an exclusive interview with SN24 News revealed that it is about time we had an indigenous language as a national language to spell out the importance of our independence

"The English language has only become Ghana's official language because we were colonized by the British and if we have truly attained independence, then we must have a Ghanaian Language as a second national language that will be used in schools and at the floor of Parliament". Mr. J.K Debrah-Ussher emphasized.

According to him, if the authorities fail to legalized a local dialect as a national language, then we are not yet an independent country.

Mr. Debrah-Ussher pleaded with the Deans of the Faculty of Linguistics in our various Universities and Traditional Leaders to appeal to the government to make Twi Ghana's second official language because it is the most speaking dialect in the country.
