Mammoth media Franchise, Multimedia Group Limited, have released a statement to declare that five of their members have contracted the coronavirus.

The group said that all the members identified were 'Asymptomatic'. This simply means that they will show no symptoms of the virus and will otherwise be fine all through the time they carry the virus, these types of people are referred to as "silent carriers".

Popular sports journalist, Gary Al-Smith has affirmed that he is one of the five workers, although the other four are yet to reveal themselves. Multimedia Group has confirmed that they have started contact tracing to ensure that other members of the team are safe.

Research suggests that they and Ghanaians at large may have nothing much to worry about.

Asymptomatic patients were thought to be more deadly because they were known to be silent carriers. The W.H.O has recently suggested that Asymptomatic patients rarely transmit the disease, despite not being backed by leading scientists.

Gary Al-Smith took to his Facebook page to confirm the news.

“As per this statement, Multimedia has recorded five cases of COVID-19.I’m one of the five. After consultation with my family, we have decided that from tonight, I’ll be speaking on radio and TV about my experience. On this page, I will be chronicling my daily experiences and how I feel, every step of the way. My family and I believe this can be my small way of battling the stigmatization problem we face in the country. I’m doing very well, thankfully, and everyone has been very supportive”. He affirmed.

Multimedia's full statement reads thus:

"This is to inform you that five (5) members of our team at our business offices in Accra who were contact traced and tested by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), have tested positive for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19)."
