President Akufo Addo has promised Mansen Senior High School in the Dormaa East District of the Bono region of building a girls’ dormitory and providing them with a bus to harness transportation.

The promise is aimed at improving second cycle education in the area. Speaking at the Wamfie palace as part of his two-day working visit to the Bono region, the president said his government was committed to providing quality education.

The President's promise comes on the back of an appeal made by the chief of Wamfie, Barima Ansu Adjei, who believes the establishment of the dormitory will encourage the girl child to take education serious to achieve greater height.

The chief indicated the difficulty the headmistress had to go through to get to the school. He said the mistress sometimes had to go by pragia or tricycle, a situation he termed as horrifying.

The chief also touched on some challenges impeding health care delivery. According to him the hospital in the district lacks certain required equipment and thus called on the president to intervene.

He again appealed to the president to consider constructing the Wamfie, Amasu, Wamnafo and Gambia town roads to enhance transportation and improve economic activities. He pleaded again for a cassava processing factory for farmers to preserve their produce from rotting.

Barima Ansu Adjei also commended the president on a number of projects undertaken in the District which includes educational infrastructure, NHIS office, police station, fire station and lorry station. He as well praised the government for the courageous measures putting in place to combat the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Nana Addo promised to build the Mansen SHS girls dormitory and ensure the bus is provided.

He also assured the chiefs and people of Wamfie of his commitment to considering and delivering on their request.
