Nananom throw support behind Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi for NPP National Chairman

The Tuobodom Traditional Council on Monday, June 21, 2021, have officially thrown its weight behind Honourable Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi in his quest to become the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.
 
It has come to light that in the next National Executive Council elections of the New Patriotic Party, Honourable Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, a Former Minister for Ports, Harbours and Railway, who is also a former Minister of Education and former Member of Parliament for Techiman North Constituency and the current Board Chairman of Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund, will be one of the NPP stalwarts to contest for the National Chairmanship position.

In the wake of this, the Tuobodom Traditional Council have held a press conference to rally their support for Professor Ameyaw.

Addressing the media, Nana Asante Danso-Ameyaw, the Dwantoahene of Tuobodom Traditional Council, said Honourable Christopher played a major role in the current peace Tuobodom is enjoying especially concerning chieftaincy issues.

Recounting some personal sacrifices Honourable Christopher has made for the New Patriotic Party, Nana Asante Danso-Ameyaw said during the 1979 primaries, although Honourable Akumfi Ameyaw lost to Honourable Baffour Gyau, he used his personal resources to support Baffour Gyau during the campaign and eventually the NPP won the Wenchi, Techiman, Nkoranza and Kintampo seat which was then considered as a single constituency.

"During the year 1992, Hon Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi was bold enough to contest for the seat even though N.P.P were afraid to hold a public meeting due to the terror of the then military government led by the late Rt. Lft. John Jerry Rawlings." Nana Asante Danso-Ameyaw said. 

Nana Asante revealed that, the dedication and hardworking nature of Hon. Akumfi Ameyaw made him the first NPP candidate to contest and win the Techiman North Constituency Parliamentary seat for the New Patriotic Party. 

The Dwantoahene of the Tuobodom Traditional Council further told the media that, judging from what Hon. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi has done for the people and the N.P.P party in Techiman North District and the Bono East at large, then he can help to uplift the image of the NPP and help the party to "break the 8."

He urged all and sundry in the Bono East region to firmly throw their weight behind Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi because he has what it takes to change the fortunes of the party especially as they aimed to break the usual eight years that a political party spends in office. 

He finally appealed to the delegates that Hon. Akumfi Ameyaw is the people's choice and they must vote massively for him, as he is fully capable of helping the party to win power come 2024.

He said that, although the press conference was honoured in the name of the Tuobodom Traditional Council, they rest assured that Techiman Manhene, Oseadeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV and the entire Techiman Traditional Council support Hon. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi in becoming the next Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party.
