NCCE Urges Eligible Ghanaian Voters To Participate In 2024 General Elections

THE National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on eligible Ghanaian voters to go out in their numbers and vote in the general elections scheduled for  Saturday December 7, 2024.
The Chairperson of the Commission, Mrs Kathleen Addy, made the call when the Commission engaged the Asafo Traditional Council as part of its activities to commemorate constitutional week celebrations in the history of Ghana, under the theme: “ Together we can build Ghana, so let's get involved."

National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged the Asafo Traditional Council as part of its activities to commemorate constitutional week celebrations in the history of Ghana, under the theme, “ Together we can build Ghana, so let's get involved."
The engagement took place at the Asafo palace at Asafo in Kumasi. But the staff of the  Commission first paid a courtesy call to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu at the Manhyia palace.
Speaking at the brief event, the Chairperson for NCCE, Mrs. Catherine Addy highlighted that, the Annual Constitution Week is celebrated with identifiable groups in the District, Municipal, and Metropolitan areas in the country. 
She intimated that this engagement is to aid the Commission to get feedback from the Ghanaians and their views concerning the calls for reforms of the 1992 Constitution as well as their appreciation of the thirty years of uninterrupted constitutional democracy.
She highlighted some rights and responsibilities of Ghanaians as stipulated in the 1992 Constitution.
He commended the Traditional Council for their role in democratic successful democratic turnovers and described the nation’s democracy as an entrenched one.
 “The Constitution is more than words; it is a document that has its words but also has its spirit, in the view of political science. It is more like the bible. The Constitution represents our aspirations as a nation and where we desire to get to. It is the supreme law of the country,” he intimated.
Participants were reminded of the 2024 General elections and encouraged to actively participate and vote.
Asafohene, Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu welcomed the officers and guests and admonished the officers to be open-minded to the education and feel free to come up with their suggestions and questions after the presentation by the Commission.
He urged the Chairperson for NCCE as part of their mandates to maintain the core values of the constitution.
Asafohene entreated the commission to be resilient in its activities, especially, this being an election year.
