'No other match will be played until AshGold and Kotoko play.' Nana Yaw Amponsah says

Nana Yaw Amponsah, the Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, has stated that no game will be played in the Ghana Premier League until the Asante Kotoko-AshantiGold tie is completed.

The match between AshGold and Kotoko was scheduled for Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Len Clay Stadium. However, due to security concerns, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has chosen to postpone the Ashanti derby.

Nana Yaw Amponsah, speaking on Peace FM, has requested that the match between the league leaders and AshGold be honored because the Miners could influence the Premier League's winner this season.

"Why can't Obuasi provide proper security?" Are we saying that after the Sunday matches, AshGold's next [home] encounter will be postponed as well? No other match will be played until Kotoko and AshantiGold finish their match, and we are writing to the GFA to demand it," he stated.

"The timing of the decision [to punish AshGold for match-fixing] is completely incorrect. They [GFA] have set the stage for more manipulations.

"The remaining AshantiGold matches will determine who becomes champions and who is demoted," he concluded.

After 29 matches, Kotoko is in first place in the Premier League, with an eight-point lead over second-placed Bechem United.
