The family of the late former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadw Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John are observing the one-week memorial at Sakora Wonoo, his hometown in the Ashanti region on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.

Sir John, who until his demise a few weeks ago at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra due to COVID-19, was the CEO of the Ghana Forestry Commission.

The one-week observation which is customary in Akan tradition will be used to announce the date for his burial.

According to Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, the bigwigs of the party will attend the event.

He also disclosed that Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will be in attendance.
