“We are in the Ashanti Region, 47 constituencies and I believe that relatively the region is calm. As for crime, you cannot run from it. Once a while It will happen but its the way and manner that we handle the situation that will determine the effort of the service. It’s an assurance that we are giving that before and after the elections, everything will be all right.

“We should not show political bias and should deal with every such issue when it’s a crime as a crime. Crime has no political, ethnic colours and knows no sex or religion. All we want is peace before, doing and after elections for all of us to enjoy this year’s Christmas in peace.

“We'll do all we can to provide the necessary logistics for you (security services) to deliver. I'm begging the general public, as much as I agree, that the security will do their best to support us, we also have to collaborate and support them in their delivery. The criminals are with us and so when you have any information, don’t hesitate to volunteer the information and we’ll give you the maximum protection.

“Everybody in the region should be reassured that security will be intact before, during and after the elections,” he assured.

The Ashanti Regional Central Military Commander, Brigadier General Joseph Aphor stressed that the Military through intelligence will assist the Police to ensure that Ghanaians welfare is not endangered.

“Most hotspots are not only in the Ashanti Region, but It’s also all over the country and it’s a normal military thing. Whiles, it’s getting to election like this, we get the intelligence and we are able to identify the areas that we think more emphasis should be placed in terms of patrolling and that kind.

“We are assuring everybody that we will have time for those areas and we’ll map up all the strategies to ensure that those areas are taken care off.

“We’ll also support the Police. We believe that with what we are rolling out for Ashanti Region and for that matter Kumasi, there will not be any of such because I don’t think we will sit down for any of such to happen.”
