Police notify residents in Kumasi on the temporal closure of public roads

The Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service has disclosed that there will be a temporal closure of public roads in the capital of the Ashanti Region on Friday, March 6, 2020.

Kumasi is hosting the 63rd Independence Day celebration at the Baba Yara stadium and per the directives through a press release, security measures have been put in place to grace the occasion.

According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo, some roads in the Metropolis will be temporary closed and re-opened after the event.

“The Afful Nkwanta Traffic Light to the Stadium, Asokwa Mall Traffic Light to the Stadium, Unity Oil Station to T. I. Ahmadiya Senior High school and the Road from “It’s My Kitchen Restaurant” to Briginia will all be closed to the general motoring public with the exception of those with accreditation to enter the Heroes Park and the Hockey Pitch,” the statement revealed.

“Security vehicles and vehicles carrying dignitaries would be allowed after they have been subjected to through search and therefore must cooperate with the Traffic Police Officers.

“MTTD Officers will be deployed to the various designated car parks to assist motorists to park their vehicles and also direct motorists to diverted roads. Vehicles parked at unauthorized places and wrongly parked will be towed by the Towing Services and the owners of such vehicles surcharged,” the statement added.

The statement apologized to the public on the regret of any inconvenience that will be caused on the Independence Day in Kumasi.
