Prez Akufo-Addo accepts Martin Amidu’s resignation

The presidency said it will respond to the allegations by Martin Amidu in due time

Prez Akufo-Addo accepts Martin Amidu’s resignation

President Nana Akufo-Addo Dankwa has accepted the resignation of Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor.

The President has also directed the Chief of Staff to ensure that emolument and benefits due to Mr Amidu for the office held is paid.

This was made known in a letter from the Presidency acknowledging the acceptance of Martin Amidu’s resignation.

The Presidency however stated that, it will respond to the claims by Mr. Amidu in his resignation letter in due course.

Martin Amidu announced his resignation as Special Prosecutor on Monday, November 16, 2020.

He cited a number of reasons for his resignation.

Among other things, he cited interference by the government in his work although he is supposed to be independent and also the death of former President Jerry John Rawlings who to him, was a source of protection from the threats on his life after conducting a corruption risk assessment on the controversial Agyapa Mineral Royalties deal.
