Steve Bruce has taken exception to comment on Newcastle United’s takeover saying his ambition as the head coach of the Magpies is what really matters.

According to the 59-year old, the club's effective functioning on the field of play is why he was brought to St. James Park therefore any news relating to the club’s finances is needful but not appealing much on his side.

Newcastle United few weeks ago have been speculated of a take over from owner, Mike Ashley by a Saudi fund (PIF), controlled by Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Sky sports last week reported that American businessman, Henry Mauriss is the man behind the £350m bid lodged for Newcastle United’s takeover.

Reports link his predecessor, Rafa Benitez, and Mauricio Pochettino to the job when the club falls into the hands of new ownership.

The Black and White strip team will play Aston Villa on Wednesday night and per the words of Bruce, "If I'm being brutally honest, I'm not really interested in it because I can't influence that.

"I'll hear something when probably you guys hear something. My job is just to keep taking the club forward."

Newcastle won on Sunday by 3-0 against a 10-man Sheffield United at the St., James Park, and the manager has called on his team to replicate their performance against Villa for better results and finish the season strongly.

"Aston Villa have got some very good players, particularly Grealish and McGinn. We'll have to be at our best to beat them but we're feeling confident, and you can see people bouncing into the training ground [after the weekend].

"We've given ourselves a really, really decent platform but fair play to everyone concerned. It's vitally important we keep focused and finish the season strongly which we're looking to do," he added.
